Do you own a Motorhome or Camper and would like it to earn its keep ???

If your an owner any of a motorhome or camper and would like to recoup your annual upkeep costs, why not let someone use your property for a holiday and pay for the experience. For example, if it costs you £900 per year to keep your campervan in roadworthy condition and you want to cover that cost, all you would have to do is allow someone to use it for three weeks at £300 per week.
Of course the value of the hire would be for you to decide. If your campervan is only a few years old with all the mod cons, you would charge a little more. But if your van is 20 years old or more, the payment for hire would be smaller. Another way of looking at it is, instead of your camper sitting in the drive doing nothing but collecting dust and rust, why not have it pay for itself. You will be surprised just how many people have wanted to do this but have had no opportunity to look into it closer.

Leisure Hire UK is a privately owned company. Our aim is to provide you with either a holiday (with no hidden charges), or if your an owner, to help you cover some costs. We are totally dedicated to our members'  needs, and hold a database of owners and members wanting a holiday. These members might want to share their interests and experiences with other people who would love to own property or take a well-earned break.  Our website puts these people in touch with each other.

OWNERS --To the left of the home page you will see many categories, most of which speak for themselves. The way we run the company is that you take out membership, then your property is displayed on the websites for others to see. Many of our members constantly check the website. I try to update the website daily, but sometimes it's once every few days. Once your advert has been seen by someone who likes the look of your Campervan, for example, they will then ask us for infomation regarding its use and availability. We then check your diary and quote for the hire. We keep your contact details private and do not ever display them, every enquiry must come through us. The membership database is maintained by hand, no computers are involved. You can speak to us directly if you wish - all contact details are at the top of this page.

Now for the bit that everybody hates: "Ok, how much?". As an owner it will cost you a one-off lifetime membership fee. All you do is simply submit the type of accomodation you own and would like others to use, e.g. Motorhome or camper. Then add its details (no more than 50 words) and include a photo. We will do the rest. Your property will be displayed on the websites for life. You are not obliged to use any of the hires we pass on to you. It's totally at your discretion as we appreciate that you probaly use your property yourself. Memberships and searches are done by hand,  not computers. We take great pride in being able to sort through our members database and find the holiday that people want, not to mindlessly churn out infomation of no good to either party. Computers are a very essential part of life nowadays, but sorting by hand is more personal and secure.  

If you are looking for a certain type of holiday, this service is free. Simply submit a profile of the type of holiday you require. Include information such as how many adults, children, pets, destination and anything else you feel that might help. This infomation is then checked against our records.  If there is something that catches your attention, we then pass on your details to that member. The rest is done by yourself.



************************HOW IT ALL HAPPENED****************************


In 2003 I purchased a 1986 Talbot Express Coachbuilt Motorhome (see photo at the top of the motorhomes page). I would have loved to have tried one first before buying, but what follows explains why I bought the motorhome and are very happy with it. Due to work commitments I could not use it every weekend as I had planned. I was being asked by friends and family to let them borrow it for a weekend, sometimes even a week. To be honest, I wasn't too keen of the idea at first, but I did some research and discovered that there's not much available for people wanting to use a motorhome for a few days at a realistic price. Most companies charge anything  from £500 to £1200 for one week's hire;  then there's all the extras they charge for. Now some people would like to try before they buy. Ok, these were one or two-year-old motorhomes, but we thought it wasn't really a cheap holiday when you consider the fuel and site costs too. My motorhome, costs us about £1000 per year to keep on the road, so I let members/friends/family use it for about four weeks of the year. We charge a very reasonable fee of £399 per week which includes £20 a day insurance cover. We get a lot of enquiries from our friends in Austraila and New Zealand wanting to tour the UK during our summer. These people don't want the use of your motorhome for just a week but for 2 to 20 weeks. 


************************* INSURANCE COVER *****************************


Insurance is covered from £20 per day on a hire/rental agreement. There are a few things the insurance company and you will need to know before you let somebody else use it. I have drawn up a form which covers all the information that you and the insurance company will need. These details are very important and need to be completed in full. You can add extra infomation yourself if you wish. Roadside recovery is easy to arrange. In most cases everybody will have some sort of cover, weather it be personal or for the vehicle. It just needs to be confirmed prior to using the property.  We do ask for proof as well.



***********************WHAT ABOUT ANY DAMAGES ? ***********************


I was very worried about any damages that might occur to our motorhome while it was in use by other people. I was advised to charge a deposit of £300 which covers most losses and damages. Note that these losses are your losses, not the user. I charge £20 per broken item, no matter how small, which is deducted from the £300.  I have never had to do this as everyone that has used my Motorhome has fully respected it as if it was their own. They have been very happy and grateful for the experience of having a UK touring holiday.  Some have even bought a vehicle themselves, become members with us, and are making money to recoup their costs.


************************OWNERS REQUIRMENTS***************************


As a registered member and owner of your vehicle it is entirely up to you how much you charge for wear and tear costs and, of course, whom you to allow use it. We give you full information about how our company is set up. At no time will your personal details be given out. We will need your details, photo and any information about your property so that we can build a profile to show people that may be interested. We also need a valid, long-term email address, full home address, telephone number and rough estimate of how much you would like to charge. Your vehicle must be safe, road legal and in roadworthy condition. Remember, you can afford to be choosey and always in control.

If you would like to cover the costs of your vehicle, please email us or even speak directly to us via  phone. Our contact details are on the Contact Us page. Please remember that you are in control at all times - we will not pass on any contacts to you if we feel they might be dishonest or are time wasters. We base our website on trust, and if we feel that we wouldn,t want someone to use our own motorhome we will not pass on their details to you. After we have spoken to you on the phone and you have joined, we will email an attachment to you which contains all the forms you need. These you send out to people interested in your vehicle. You will also receive a more detailed email that has all the rules & information you need to start.

                                20 weeks @ £450 per week = £9000.00

This example assumes you will let your vehicle out for 20 weeks of the year, leaving 32 weeks for your own use. This 32 weeks could include Christmas, new year, M.O.T. work, and maintenance and checking and cleaning before and after it goes out. Of course, if you could turn your vehicle round in two days, you could let it out for about 30 weeks.
